From a 1000 emails a day to…zero?

A multinational IT services company, Atos, is attempting a bold move of eliminating the office emails by 2013.

Atos plans to replace emails with wikis and instant messaging systems, which will allow users to share files and use video conferencing.

"The volume of emails we send and receive is unsustainable for business," says Atos's chief executive Thierry Breton.

"It is estimated that managers spend between five and 20 hours a week just reading and writing emails," he said, adding, "email is on the way out as the best way to run a company and do business".

Would you prefer an alternative to emails? Or do you like the current system of operating in your office?
