New statistics have shown that Information and Data Management has surpassed other sectors of IT to take up the primary role.
A survey by Corporate Executive Board reveals that CIOs plan to spend 39% of their budget on information and data management (up by 8% from last year). According to the report, up until 2011, Business Process Automation had taken the lead in budget allocation. The report says, the CIOs intend to spend 32% of their budget on it this year.
Another report by analyst company, Ovum, predicts that Data Management will be the fastest growing sector in IT over the next 4 years, predicting a compounded annual growth of 10%.
“The volume of information within enterprises continues to grow at an astonishing rate, and investment is needed to both manage this information and turn it into actionable intelligence”, said Ovum analyst Tim Jennings.
